Julian Weber can't believe his eyes after shattering his own limits in Doha! "I've never felt this good! I think I need to rewatch this throw," exclaimed the German javelin sensation, after launching his record-breaking javelin to a staggering 91.06 meters.

The Mainz-native shrugged off previous slumps, making history as the seventh German to breach the 90-meter barrier. Weber's performance was a testament to his determination, surpassing his three-year-old personal best of 89.84 meters in the fifth round, snatching victory from the silver medalist at the 2024 Olympics, Neeraj Chopra.

A Symphony in the Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium

With the wind in Doha's favor, Weber found the perfect angle, sending his javelin soaring through the air. "If you time it right, the javelin just doesn't stop," said Weber to leichtathletik.de, beaming with pleasure post-win. The powerhouse performance secured his spot in the fifth place on the DLV's all-time list.

The Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium seems to be a lucky charm for German javelin throwers! Rio Olympic champion Thomas Röhler recorded a record-breaking throw of 93.90 meters in the same stadium eight years ago. Although the German record of 97.76 meters, achieved by Johannes Vetter in 2020, still remains unmatched, Weber's performance definitely raised some eyebrows.

The Ever-Evolving Journey of a Sports Trailblazer

Weber's path to the podium has not been easy. He narrowly missed out on winning medals at the World Championships in 2022, 2023, and at the Olympics in Tokyo and Paris, often settling for fourth place. However, after dominating the Doha Diamond League, Weber hopes to put an end to his competitive drought at the World Championships in Tokyo (August 19-27). Here's to hoping for a gold-worthy performance and breaking the podium curse!
