Thunderstorms follow a sunny Saturday - Following a bright and sunny weekend day, thunderstorms are on the horizon.
Let's talk weather, folks! After a scorching hot day this Saturday, be prepared for some chaotic thunderstorms rolling into Saxony-Anhalt on Sunday. The German Weather Service (DWD) has predicted that while the sun might make an appearance initially, temperatures will soar up to 30-33°C in most areas, with Harz region reaching a balmy 27-30°C.
But, hold onto your hats! As the night falls on Sunday, things will start to look ominous. You can expect a dry night with just a few clouds, and temperatures dropping down to 19-14°C. However, near the border with Lower Saxony, the skies might light up with a few thunderstorms.
As Monday knocks on our doors, those thunderstorms and showers should retreat, making way for a chilly 15-11°C. The week will kick off on a relatively dry note, with warm highs of 22-24°C, and Harz region set at 19-22°C.
All About Thunderstorms
When warm, moist air and atmospheric instability come together, thunderstorms can brew. This combination has been seen in the Saxony-Anhalt region, along with nearby areas, favoring the formation of thunderstorms and sporadic rainshowers. While isolated thunderstorms can lead to heavy, localized flooding, they are predicted to be scattered and not of extreme intensity.
A forecast for minimal impact
While thunderstorms are definitely in the forecast, it's important to remember that the severity is relatively low. Travel disruptions may occur due to surface water and reduced visibility, but widespread disruption is unlikely. Localized flooding could pose a threat, particularly in urban areas or poorly drained areas.
For agricultural workers, sudden rainfall can have its pros and cons. On one hand, it's beneficial if it's not too intense. On the other, localized flooding or hail could potentially damage crops. In terms of public safety, the main risks are from lightning strikes and minor flooding, but the overall risk is considered low to moderate.
So, while it's not a complete washout, it's shaping up to be a stormy weekend! Stay safe, folks!

While the German Weather Service (DWD) predicts a stormy Sunday in Saxony-Anhalt, with the risk of scattered thunderstorms, it's important to note that the Commission has also been consulted on the draft directive for the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to carcinogens during the summer day. Stay safe from both thunderstorms and potentially harmful substances at work, folks!
