"Chatting with the Trees": Neil Young Unleashes New Album and Global Tour with The Chrome Hearts
Neil Young, a well-known folk rock artist, is set to release a new album. - Folk-rock artist Neil Young unveils fresh LP.
Jump into a musical journey with Neil Young, the Canadianborn folkrock legend whose career spans over six decades! At the age of 80, he's breaking new ground with "Talking To The Trees," his latest album launching this Friday with The Chrome Hearts, his fresh band, ready to rock! Members contribute guitars, bass, organ, drums, and vocals, while Neil crafts the ten tracks and adds guitar, harp, piano, and vibraphone.
The vibe is classic Young, and his words remain raw. Just like during Donald Trump's first term, Young continues to vocalize his criticisms of the US government and former president. For instance, the leaked track "Big Change," dropped before Trump's inauguration, offers some harsh truths. Meanwhile, in "Lets Roll Again," Young pushes for an increased production of electric vehicles, but advises against Tesla, a controversial electric vehicle company backed by tech billionaire Elon Musk who holds strong Trump connections: "If you're a fascist, then get a Tesla."
Post-release, Young and his band will set off on a globe-trotting tour that starts in Europe (with stops in Berlin on July 3 and Mönchengladbach on July 4), then crisscrosses through the US and Canada. Despite concerns over being prevented from re-entering the US following the European leg, Neil's determined spirit remains unbroken. He's worried that speaking out against Donald J. Trump while in Europe might land him in hot water upon his return to America: "If I'm making music in Europe and talking about Donald J. Trump, I could be one of those who returns to America and is denied entry, or thrown in jail to sleep on a cement floor with an aluminum blanket."
Although there have been increased cases of travelers facing stricter border controls under the Trump administration, and some even denied entry or refused visas, US citizens like Neil Young cannot be legally barred from re-entering the country.
