The Engagement-Star 2025, a prestigious award aimed at recognising and supporting young people's ideas for a vibrant sports landscape in the Wartburg district, has been launched. Katrin Biermann, the contact person of the Wartburg district volunteer agency, explains that the award aims to make visible and further develop the ideas of young individuals who are passionate about sports and community engagement.

Applications for the Engagement-Star 2025 are now open and must be submitted in full by September 15, 2025. Interested parties can send their applications by email to [email protected] or by post to Wartburg district volunteer agency, Bahnhofstraße 6, 36433 Bad Salzungen.

The award ceremony offers a platform for encounter, exchange, and network work, and it will take place on December 5, 2025, during the International Day of Volunteering. The competition honours the exceptional commitment of young people in the region who enrich sporting diversity with creative, voluntary ideas and projects.

Individuals, groups, initiatives, or clubs can apply for the award if their sporting commitment has already been successfully implemented at least once and if they plan to continue their work. The award ceremony in 2024 showcased the value of young engagement for the region, as the awarded projects were not only recognised but also motivated many others to become active.

The Engagement-Star 2025 competition is offering three prizes: 1st place - 1,000 euros, 2nd place - 500 euros, and 3rd place - 250 euros. The funds are intended to help winners implement their next sporting projects.

The idea for the award emerged in 2024 as part of the Network of Volunteers and has been jointly developed since. The award was initiated by the Wartburg district's volunteer agency, Wartburg district administration, and Wartburg Sparkasse, with the district sports association Wartburg joining as a new partner for this second competition.

Further information on the competition and the application form can be found at www.freiwilligenagentur-wak.de. The Engagement-Star 2025 is aimed at young people up to the age of 30 from the Wartburg district who are committed to sports, exercise, or club life through creative projects, inclusive offers, innovative training formats, or new impulses in youth sports work. The award winners serve as role models far beyond their own initiative.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their sports-related projects by September 15, 2025, for the Engagement-Star 2025 award. Successful applicants will be honored during the award ceremony on December 5, 2025, offering a platform for networking and exchanging ideas in the sports landscape of the Wartburg district.
