The Miami Dolphins are off to a flying start in the 2025 NFL season, currently ranked No. 4 with a perfect 3-0 record. The team's impressive form extends beyond the current campaign, as they lead the all-time series against their rivals, the Florida Gators, 30-27.

In their most recent encounter, the Dolphins demonstrated their dominance, winning the 2022 season opener 41-17. The victory was a testament to the stellar performance of quarterback Carson Beck, who threw a season-high 340 yards and 3 touchdowns, also adding a rushing touchdown to his tally.

Beck, a transfer from Georgia, has been a revelation in Miami's offense, completing 79.3% of his passes for 812 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. His impressive running ability, standing at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, has been a significant factor in the team's success.

However, the Gators, currently ranked outside the Top 25 with a record of 1-2, have shown resilience. Their defense has been a shining light, allowing only two touchdowns in three games and holding all opponents to 20 points or less.

Florida's offense, on the other hand, has been inconsistent. Quarterback DJ Lagway, despite completing 33 of 49 passes for 287 yards and a touchdown in their last game, has also thrown 5 interceptions. Coach Billy Napier is emphasizing the need to evaluate Lagway's performance in the context of his experience and offseason.

The Gators have struggled recently, losing their last two games against South Florida and LSU. However, Napier remains optimistic, believing his team is close to turning things around.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins' offensive line has provided excellent protection for Beck, allowing him to be sacked only twice, and the team totaled 576 total yards against South Florida, including 205 rushing. The defense has also shown improvement, allowing an average of 13.0 points through three games this season.

Miami's other win against a ranked opponent this season was against then-No. 6 Notre Dame, 27-24, in the season opener. The team's impressive form continued last week, as they beat their second ranked opponent of the season with a score of 49-12.

The head coach of the Miami Dolphins, Mike McDaniel, has been instrumental in the team's success. Despite the overall No. 1 NFL draft pick Cam Ward's absence, the quarterback position has been stable, with no issues in replacement.

Despite the pressure mounting on Napier, the Gators will undoubtedly be eager to turn their fortunes around when they face the Dolphins in their next encounter. The all-time series might be in Miami's favour, but every game is a new opportunity, and the Gators will be determined to close the gap.
