Florida Panthers lose Cole Schwindt to another long-term injury mid-season
Florida Panthers forward Cole Schwindt has suffered another major injury, ruling him out long-term. The 26-year-old had only just returned to the lineup after a broken arm in November. His absence forces a lineup change ahead of the team's next game.
Schwindt was claimed off waivers from the Vegas Golden Knights on 3 October. He had been playing on the fourth line with A.J. Greer and Sandis Vilmanis before his latest setback. That trio had dominated in a recent game, leading 3-0 in goals and 43-19 in shot attempts before Schwindt's exit.
Head coach Paul Maurice confirmed the lower-body injury will keep the forward out for an extended period. This marks Schwindt's second major injury of the season, following a broken arm on 17 November. In 22 games with Florida this year, he recorded four points (three goals, one assist) and delivered 25 hits.
Luke Kunin will now step into the lineup for the Panthers' upcoming match against the Buffalo Sabres. The team must adjust quickly after losing Schwindt twice in one campaign.
Schwindt's repeated injuries create a gap in Florida's forward group. Kunin's promotion offers an immediate replacement, but the Panthers will need depth to cover the long-term absence. The timing adds pressure as the team pushes through a demanding schedule.
