Sayonara, Dems! Florida Sen. Jason Pizzo Kicks Rocks, Ditches Party Affiliation

Florida Democratic Party official transitions to unaffiliated: "Florida's Democratic Party is deceased," they declare

Florida state Senator Jason Pizzo, known for his stint as state Senate Democratic Leader, mercilessly tossed the Democrats to the curb, opting for no party affiliation instead.

Enter Senator Lori Berman, set to stride into Pizzo's vacated leadership post.

During a fiery speech last Thursday, Pizzo snapped, "The political party system here in Florida is on death's door." He called the Democratic Party in Florida a carcass, declaring, "There are good people that can resuscitate it. But they don't want it to be me."

He wasn't done there. He slammed the Republican Party, too, acknowledging its issues.

Meanwhile, Democratic Rep. Wilson urged the masses to call and threaten lawmakers due to a rise in illegal immigration detentions.

Florida Democratic Party chair Nikki Fried lambasted the state lawmaker, stating, "Jason Pizzo is one of the most ineffective and unpopular Democratic leaders in recent memory, and his resignation is one of the best things to happen to the party in years."

Fried bemoaned Pizzo's tenure as leader, which she described as marred by constant party base disparagement, conflict with colleagues, and a laser focus on his own political ambitions over democratic values.

"Jason's failure to build support within our party for a gubernatorial run has led to this final embarrassing temper tantrum," she continued. "I'd be lying if I said I'm sad to see him go, but I wish him the best of luck in the political wilderness he's created for himself. The Florida Democratic Party is more united without him."

Donald Trump clapped his hands in excitement at Pizzo's decision to desert the Democrats and infiltrate the GOP ranks: "Thank you, Hillary!"

Background:

  • Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried condemned Pizzo for ditching the party, calling him ineffective and unpopular.
  • Pizzo's decision came as Florida's political landscape experiences a notable shift, with Republicans now boasting a 1.2 million voter registration advantage and dominating state-wide offices.
  • Pizzo attributed the break from party affiliation to election strategy, as he relies on unaffiliated voters (3.7 million in Florida) to operate without party constraints.
  • This move comes amid internal party conflicts, with Pizzo accusing Democratic leaders of opposition to his leadership role in revitalizing the party.
