Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi initiates a special task force following the declassification of intelligence, suggesting flaws in the 2016 Obama administration's investigation into alleged Trump-Russia collusion.
In a series of developments, the investigation into the Trump-Russia probe has taken a new turn with fresh allegations and revelations.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced that it will review all the evidence compiled by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard about the "substandard" intelligence in the probe. This comes after Gabbard accused several officials of subverting the will of the American people, promoting a lie, and enacting a years-long coup against President Trump.
The House Intelligence Committee's report, signed off by every member of the panel, has accused CIA Director Brennan, FBI Director Comey, DNI Clapper, and others of conspiring to include the now-debunked Steele Dossier in the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA), despite warnings of its fabrication. The report also found "egregious" errors committed by Brennan in the compiling of an assessment that claimed Moscow preferred a Trump victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton.
The FBI has initiated an investigation into former CIA Director John Brennan and ex-FBI Director James Comey for potential criminal actions taken as part of the Trump-Russia probe. The evidence includes "fabricated" information from the Steele Dossier peddled by MI6 spy Christopher Steele.
Attorney General Pam Bondi has launched a strike force to investigate the Obama administration's probe of Russian influence on the 2016 election. Meanwhile, Democrats have dismissed Gabbard's findings as partisan and not revealing a sinister plot by the Obama administration.
The report suggests that Putin's principal motivations were to undermine faith in the US democratic process and to weaken what the Russians considered to be an inevitable Clinton presidency. The Kremlin's intel service withheld a campaign email discussing a plan to link Putin and Russian hackers to candidate Trump, intending to "distract the [American] public" from the Clinton email server scandal.
The House Intelligence Committee chairman Rick Crawford faced "untold levels of obstruction by the CIA" to release the information to the public. The Senate intel report, concluded that Russia intended to help Trump's campaign in 2016. However, the report also found that Russia's foreign intelligence service, the SVR, had DNC communications that Clinton was suffering from psychological problems but didn't disclose it.
The Director of National Intelligence is accused of risking classified sources, betraying allies, and politicizing intelligence in an attempt to please Trump. The exact date CIA Director John Ratcliffe handed over the information to the DOJ is not explicitly stated but is associated with events in mid to late 2025. Ratcliffe provided information as CIA Director that led to the search of John Bolton's residence; these documents were delivered to the Department of Justice.
Obama's spokesman has dismissed Trump's accusations of treason and trying to steal the election as "bizarre" and "ridiculous". The report showed Brennan disregarded warnings from veteran CIA officers and chose to include a questionable claim about Russian President Vladimir Putin's intentions. Neither the SVR nor the report disclosed that Clinton was "on a daily regimen of 'heavy tranquilizers' and while afraid of losing, she remained 'obsessed with a thirst for power.'"
As the investigation continues, more details are expected to emerge, shedding light on the events surrounding the Trump-Russia probe.
