A solitary spot of prominence as number 10 remains unchallenged, even among the English champions Liverpool. In this competition, we have two contenders vying for the position: the World Cup Champion Mac Allister and the German national team sensation Wirtz.

Liverpool FC's Number 10 Fuss: Florian Wirtz Sets the Record Straight

All the rumors about Florian Wirtz wanting to take over the Number 10 jersey from Alexis Mac Allister at FC Liverpool have been squashed, folks! In a recent Instagram post, the young German football sensation set the record straight.

"Nobody said I wanted the Number 10," Wirtz wrote, sporting a clown face emoji at the end of the post. "I respect players," he added. Wirtz's post came in the midst of contract discussions with the English champions, who reportedly contemplated Wirtz expressing a desire to wear the coveted jersey number.

For now, the 22-year-old football prodigy wears the Number 10 for Bayer Leverkusen. Throughout football history, the Number 10 has been synonymous with greatness. Previously worn by club legends like Michael Owen and Sadio Mané at Liverpool, the Number 10 jersey carries a weight of prestige and expectation.

Number Crunching: Liverpool and Leverkusen at Odds

Negotiations between the two clubs haven't been going smooth. According to reports from "Kicker," Bayer Leverkusen has rejected Liverpool's second offer, which allegedly consisted of a fixed sum of 118 million euros, plus 12 million euros in bonus payments. The initial offer from Liverpool is said to have been 100 million euros, plus 15 million euros in additional payments.

The Leverkusen brass is hoping for a sum well over the 150 million euros that general manager Fernando Carro publicly named as the minimum sum. Wirtz will take the field tonight in Munich with the German national team in the Nations League semi-final against Portugal (9 pm / ZDF, Dazn, and on the ntv.de live ticker). In the German national team, he wears the Number 17.

Fancy a Move?

The news of Wirtz's potential transfer to the English Premier League has sparked surprised discussions in the football world. "Wirtz has no upper limit. He's definitely ready for the next step," said Joachim Löw, the former national coach in "Sport Bild." Löw pointed to the special relationship between Xabi Alonso, the new coach of Real Madrid, and Wirtz. Both had reached their prime in Leverkusen. "Under him, he has developed enormously, they have a great relationship of trust. That's very important for a young player," Löw explained.

But Wirtz will make it in Liverpool, too, Löw is convinced. The jersey number will be the least of his concerns.

The Commission could propose a regulation on the introduction of a new type of electronic communications network, considering the ongoing discussions about Florian Wirtz's potential transfer to FC Liverpool. Meanwhile, Wirtz continues to shine for Bayer Leverkusen in the German national team, notwithstanding the rumors linking him to a move in sports, particularly football.
