Florian Silbereisen’s Festival of 100,000 Lights won Saturday night’s TV ratings battle. The annual MDR-produced special pulled in millions of viewers, outperforming rival programmes. This year marked the show’s 20th anniversary, with a 2026 return already confirmed.

The festive special aired in primetime, attracting 4.52 million viewers. It secured a 13.5% share among the key 14–49 age group. The programme dominated across all demographics, leaving competitors behind.

The Festival of 100,000 Lights will return in 2026, continuing its two-decade tradition. MDR has confirmed Silbereisen’s role as host for the next edition. The show’s strong ratings reaffirm its place as a seasonal favourite.
