Floods paralyze Mittelfranken as rivers overflow and roads shut down

Heavy rain and melting snow have pushed rivers over their banks across parts of Mittelfranken. Flooding has forced road closures, disrupted bus routes, and cut off pedestrian paths in Fürth and nearby areas. The Zenn river burst its banks in Veitsbronn on 12 February, worsening travel conditions.

The Rednitz, Regnitz, and Zenn rivers have overflowed in several locations after days of downpours. In Stadeln, floodwaters made pedestrian and cycle paths between Siebenbogenbrücke and Heckenweg unusable. Drivers now face detours as Stadelner Straße, Fischerberg, and Ritzmannhofer Straße remain shut to all vehicles.

Fürth's transport network has also been hit. Buses on route 173 cannot follow their usual routes due to the closures. Services heading to Atzenhof will now pick up passengers at the NightLiner stop at Vacher Brücke instead of the regular stop. Those travelling toward Jakobinenstraße must use the Line 175 stop on Vacher Straße rather than the usual Vacher Brücke location.

Veitsbronn, in Landkreis Fürth, reported flooded roads and paths after the Zenn overflowed on 12 February. No other municipalities in Mittelfranken have been named as facing similar measures so far.

The closures and diversions will stay in place until water levels drop. Commuters and residents are being urged to check for updates before travelling. Flooding has already cut off key routes, leaving some areas difficult to reach by car, bus, or on foot.
