Flights were temporarily halted for a duration of 10 minutes at Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports.

In Moscow's Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports, temporary flight restrictions have popped up, as per Artem Korenyako, a representative of Rosaviatsiya. His announcement on Telegram came at 17:51 local time, with a follow-up at 18:01 stating the restrictions were lifted. According to Korenyako, the measures were taken to secure civil aviation safety.

Following a drone attack on the city, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced in his Telegram channel that air defense forces had taken down three unmanned aerial vehicles.

It's worth noting that this isn't an isolated event. Previously, similar restrictions were imposed on June 6, at 4:18 local time. The ban was lifted 40 minutes later. The restrictions in both instances were triggered by a drone attack, with Sobyanin revealing the interception of ten drones heading towards Moscow at that time.

These repeated disruptions at Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports, and other major airports such as Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo, are primarily attributed to repeated drone attacks, often linked to Ukraine. These attacks have significantly impacted air traffic, causing cancellations and delays for over 60 flights and more than 50 departures.

This drone strategy by Ukraine aims to undermine Moscow's airports, affecting Russia's logistics and public morale by disrupting essential services like air travel. By targeting air travel, Ukraine seeks to exploit the economic and psychological vulnerabilities associated with air transport disruptions. This campaign also puts pressure on Russia's air defense systems and logistics, leading to economic losses and public unrest.

The disruptions cause temporary flight suspensions, leading to significant economic losses for airports and airlines, as well as psychological impacts on passengers and cargo clients. The strategy also aims to affect public morale, crucial for connectivity across Russia's vast geography.

Stay tuned for updates on this developing situation.
