**Delhi and Bengaluru Schools Face Hoax Bomb Threats**
In a concerning series of events, over 20 schools in Delhi and numerous schools in Bengaluru received bomb threat emails on July 18, 2025. The emails, sent using encrypted networks, claimed that explosives were hidden in black plastic bags within school classrooms, with the sender expressing a desire to harm students and staff, citing personal grievances against the psychiatric care system.
Upon receiving the threats, the Delhi Police, Bomb Disposal Squad, and Fire Department were swiftly deployed to the affected schools. Students and staff were evacuated, and thorough searches were conducted, but no explosives were found. Similar incidents occurred in Bengaluru, affecting over 60 schools in total.
The police are currently investigating these hoax threats. The investigation into the ongoing series of threats in Delhi is ongoing, with some past incidents involving detained individuals, such as a 12-year-old who was detained for sending a similar threat earlier.
In a separate incident, calls threatening to blow up the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad flight were received on July 16. The calls, which were found to use virtual private networks (VPNs) and the dark web, stated that a bomb had been placed on board the flight and that the airport would be blown up at 6:30 pm. However, after a thorough investigation by the Navi Mumbai police, no suspicious findings were reported, suggesting the threats might be hoaxes.
The investigation into the bomb threats made to schools in Delhi and the threats against the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad flight are ongoing. It's important to note that multiple bomb threats, turning out to be hoaxes, have been made across the country in the last few days.
