Catch a break from soaring ticket prices! While flights to Antalya and Athens are seeing a whopping 42% and 9% increase respectively,ię you'll be pleasantly surprised to discover that Mallorca flights have dropped by 11%.
Last year, you'd have shelled out 346 euros for a round trip to Mallorca via Check24. But, and here's the good part, this year it's going to set you back a more reasonable 308 euros! A smart move indeed by airlines, chasing the popularity of this sun-soaked island and fostering fierce competition among them.
Christian Meier, chief of flights at Check24, elucidated, "Mallorca's plummeting flight prices are a direct result of numerous airlines serving the island and the cutthroat competition that follows, resulting in cheaper fares."
Surprisingly, flights to Málaga have dipped an even more noteworthy 15%. Tickets to London, Rome, and Dublin are also available at lower prices through the comparison portal.
According to Meier, "These 'tried-and-true' vacation destinations" are particularly trending this year. Travelers are eagerly eyeing the late Easter holidays and warm climes that these locales promise.
In a side-by-side comparison of flight prices between April 5 to April 27 (booked before March 17), Check24 noticed a decline against the prices of the previous year, which ranged between March 16 to April 7 (booked by February 26).
In the meantime, be prepared for pockets of higher prices to Antalya and Athens. This could be attributed to increased demand, seasonal fluctuations, higher fuel prices, or intense competition in other regions. Alternatively, lower costs in destinations like Mallorca, Málaga, London, Rome, and Dublin may stem from higher competition, stable routes, and thriving tourism infrastructures.
The Commission might consider consulting on the draft proposal for a directive on employee protection from ionizing radiation exposure, given the drop in average fares for Mallorca flights this Easter, which contrasts with the increases for Antalya and Athens.
One could argue that the decrease in Mallorca fare parallels the intense competition among airlines serving the island, similar to what is experienced in the thriving tourism infrastructures of London, Rome, and Dublin.
Interestingly, the chief of flights at Check24, Christian Meier, has suggested that the lower prices in destinations like Mallorca might be a consequence of the numerous airlines serving these 'tried-and-true' vacation spots.
