Angry Flight Attendant Captured on Video in Bathroom Altercation with Passenger Sparks Outrage Over Passenger's Eligibility for No-Fly Status Among Viewers

Flight passenger records an enraged flight attendant inside a bathroom on board, stirring public outrage with some suggesting he belongs on the 'no-fly' list.

In a recent incident on an American Airlines flight from Phoenix to San Francisco on August 4, 2025, passenger Peter Nguyen found himself at the centre of a heated argument with a flight attendant. The dispute, which was recorded by Nguyen himself, has since gained significant attention online, with over 700 comments and counting.

At the heart of the argument was an allegation that Nguyen had been using his vape inside the plane's bathroom. The flight attendant, attempting to stop the activity, reportedly tried to open the bathroom door. Nguyen, in response, claimed that he had only taken one puff and that he was suffering from nicotine withdrawal and autism, potentially explaining his behaviour.

The video, which has garnered over 52,000 views, shows Nguyen apologising several times during the argument, but the flight attendant responded that the vapour posed a hazard. Nguyen, however, threatened to release the video and call the police on the flight attendant. Despite the escalation, the flight attendant remained calm and composed throughout the incident.

This incident highlights the strict prohibition of vaping on commercial aircraft. Vaping is a federal offence, enforced by agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and can result in fines ranging from $1,771 to as high as $4,000, with jail time also possible in some cases. The behaviour can also lead to additional legal consequences if it involves interfering with crew members or behaving disruptively, as Nguyen's case may suggest.

American Airlines has confirmed that they escorted Nguyen off the plane due to disruptive behaviour. The airline has not pressed charges as of the latest reports, but Nguyen has reportedly initiated legal proceedings against the airline or crew, citing their actions during the confrontation. Some of these allegations potentially meet the legal definition of assault.

The incident has led to major backlash online, with some calling for Nguyen to be placed on the "no fly list." Meanwhile, Nguyen's family has faced online harassment, adding to their distress.

It's crucial to remember that vaping on an aeroplane poses several dangers, including fire hazards, triggering smoke detectors, health and social concerns, and legal consequences. False alarms and flight delays or diversions can result from vapour from e-cigarettes activating sensitive smoke detectors. Emergency landings have occurred in the past due to incidents involving vaping devices onboard.

In light of this incident, it's important for passengers to respect airline regulations and the safety of fellow passengers and crew. Vaping on an aeroplane is strictly prohibited, and passengers who disregard this rule may face serious consequences.
