Flight disruption due to mother's confrontation over son's mistress, passenger claiming bomb

In a startling incident, a false bomb threat was made on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Dhaka to Kathmandu, causing a significant disruption and damaging the airline's reputation. The threat, it was later revealed, was orchestrated by Iman, the mother of a man who was travelling on the flight.

The incident, which took place on board flight BG-373, saw 142 passengers and 7 crew members evacuated from the aircraft. The evacuation led to the arrival of bomb squads, special forces, K9 units, and security personnel at the scene. The operation, which lasted over three hours, concluded without the discovery of any explosive devices or suspicious items.

Iman, motivated by family concerns and a wish to prevent her son from travelling with his alleged extramarital lover, followed through on a suggestion made by a mutual acquaintance, Imran. The suggestion involved contacting the air traffic control to report a bomb on board the flight.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), assisted by the army and intelligence agencies, conducted the investigation and arrested Iman, Imran, and another individual in connection with the incident. The three individuals were later identified as Iman's son, the son's alleged extramarital partner, and Iman herself.

The special unit chief urged citizens not to engage in such actions, emphasizing that the false bomb threat caused damage to the country's image and the national carrier's reputation. The incident, regrettable as it was, led to a three-hour intensive search of the aircraft but fortunately, no explosives were found.

The next day, RAB chief Shahidul Rahman announced that three individuals had been arrested in connection with the incident. The arrests have since brought a sense of relief and reassurance to the public, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the safety and security of air travel.

  1. The false bomb threat on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-373, initially classified under 'general-news', was subsequently linked to the 'crime-and-justice' category as it was discovered to be orchestrated by Iman, motivated by personal issues and driven by a suggestion from Imran.
  2. The recent arrest of Iman, Imran, and another individual, following the false bomb threat on flight BG-373, is significant in the wider context of 'politics', as it demonstrates the government's commitment to maintaining the safety and security of air travel, thereby preserving the nation's image and the reputation of its national carrier.
