Flare-up in Moixent: fire department gains control over blaze close to a suburban development in Valencia

A forest fire has broken out in the Valencian town of Moixent, with emergency services scrambling to contain the blaze. The fire started around 3:15 PM, and the situation has been stabilized according to the 5:40 PM update.

Two forest brigades, BRIFO, have been deployed to fight the fire. These teams consist of two forest coordinators, two forest technicians, one officer, and one park chief. Six aerial means of the Generalitat have been mobilized to fight the fire from the air, and two helicopters with their respective helitransported units of forest firefighters are still working on the fire.

The Emergency Coordination Center has established situation 1 of the Special Plan for Forest Fire Risk (PEIF). This means that the fire can seriously affect forest assets and, if applicable, also lightly affect the population and non-forest assets.

The fire is near the Cumbres de Valencia urbanization, and some nearby homes have been confined due to smoke from the forest fire. To facilitate access for emergency services, the CV-589 road, in the vicinity of the municipality, has been closed in both directions. Traffic has already been restored on the CV-589 road.

Local Fire Departments from Moixent and neighboring municipalities are usually the first responders, and they are joined by the Valencian Regional Fire and Emergency Services, the Generalitat Valenciana, which mobilizes its specialized firefighting units. Forest and Environmental Agencies such as the Valencian Department of Environment and Climate Change, which oversees forest management and fire prevention efforts, are also involved.

Civil Protection and Emergency Coordination units coordinate evacuation, rescue, and relief efforts, while the local government supports coordination and public communication. Spain’s national forestry authorities may provide additional support if needed. Local volunteer firefighting groups and environmental organizations might also assist.

For the latest, specific details about which particular organizations are currently engaged, it’s best to check official updates from the Generalitat Valenciana or local government announcements.

Articles about Moixent are dominating general news today, as a forest fire continues to ravage the area. Unfortunately, the incident has also led to accidents on the CV-589 road, which has been closed due to the weather conditions exacerbated by the smoke from the fire. Local forest agencies are working tirelessly to control the blaze, with aerial assistance from the Generalitat and support from various local and regional fire departments, Civil Protection units, and volunteer firefighting groups.
