Darja Varfolomeev, the 18-year-old Olympic champion, has been making waves in the world of rhythmic gymnastics. Her recent performances at both the German Championships in Dresden and the World Championships in Valencia have solidified her status as a rising star in the sport.

In Dresden, Varfolomeev won all five titles at the German Championships for the second time, demonstrating her dominance on the national stage. Due to a changed scoring system, it's "exceptionally good" to break the 30-point mark, and Varfolomeev achieved this in three out of four events.

At the World Championships in Valencia, Varfolomeev continued her impressive form. She was unbeatable in the apparatus finals, taking the gold in hoop, ball, clubs, and ribbon. Her performances were so strong that she had more than a one-point lead over the second place in all four individual events. Team coach Isabell Sawade described Varfolomeev's performances as "absolutely world-class."

Margarita Kolosov (Potsdam) and Anastasia Simakova (Schmiden) also had strong showings in Valencia. Kolosov finished second with the hoop, while Simakova won silver with the ribbon and clubs. Viktoria Steinfeld (Schmiden) also secured second place with the ball in Valencia.

With her gold at the all-around competition a day prior, Varfolomeev will start the upcoming World Championships in Rio de Janeiro with legitimate gold hopes. While the field remains highly competitive, Varfolomeev's recent improvements, consistent execution, and competitive experience make her a strong candidate to contend for medals, including the gold.

Varfolomeev's trajectory and current form suggest she is poised to vie for top honors and could very well emerge as a gold medalist at the Rio World Championships. The rhythmic gymnastics community will eagerly await her performances in Brazil.

Darja Varfolomeev's victories in the all-around competition at the German Championships and the World Championships in multiple apparatus finals underscore her commitment and skill in sports. Prepared to contest for coveted titles at the upcoming Rio de Janeiro World Championships, Varfolomeev's impressive run in rhythmic gymnastics may culminate in gold medals.
