Five regions in Krasnoyarsk Krai have declared a fire-prone season.

Forest fires have been alarmingly early this year in Krasnoyarsk Krai! The oddly warm weather in mid-March has caused the snow to melt prematurely, making several forest regions vulnerable to fire hazards.

Excessive Heat

The thermometer is reading higher than usual in this frigid month! The unusual warmth isn't limited to the southern regions; it's also affecting the central areas of Krasnoyarsk Krai.

Emergency Declaration

On March 21st, Alexei Bolshakov, the first deputy minister of natural resources and the forest industry in Krasnoyarsk Krai, issued an order instating a special regime on five territories: the Kransnoutarsk, Kuraginsk, Minusinsk, Uzhursk, and Sharypovsk forest divisions. This order was made in response to the partial melting of snow cover in the southern forest zones of the region.

The transition period

The order will officially take effect ten days after its publication but will apply to legal relationships beginning March 24. Last year, the fire season ended around the 20th of September, marking a wet period for Krasnoyarsk Krai. According to records, 555 forest fires occurred throughout 2024, with human activities causing 155 of them. In these cases, 110 individuals were held accountable for the forest fires.

Captured the First Offender

Already this year, the first grass fire culprit has been apprehended and will face the consequences for their actions.
