FedEx Open de France: Marcus Armitage Takes Commanding Lead

The FedEx Open de France, the final DP World Tour event before a week's break for the Ryder Cup, is currently being played at Golf de Saint-Nom-La-Breteche. In a competitive field, it's Marcus Armitage who is leading the charge, holding a 10-under total after two rounds.

Armitage, who is searching for a first DP World Tour victory since the 2021 Porsche European Open, has been consistently impressive, carding scores of 64 and 68. Two strokes behind him are Min Woo Lee and Jeff Winther, both looking to close the gap and challenge for the title.

Unfortunately, a few notable players have missed the cut. Harry Hall, the favourite going into the Open de France, and Chris Wood, a three-time DP World Tour winner, both failed to make the cut, with scores of 74 and 70, and 72 and 71 respectively.

Hall's fellow countryman, Andy Sullivan, also had a tournament to forget in France. Sullivan, who missed a seventh cut of the season at the FedEx Open de France, ended his campaign at +7 (73-76). Sullivan's performance was marred by seven bogeys and two doubles over his two rounds.

Eugenio Chacarra, who is hoping to secure one of the 10 PGA Tour cards available, also missed the cut. Chacarra, who had four bogeys in his last five holes in the first round, ended the tournament at +2 (73-71).

Adrian Meronk, another contender, also missed the cut with scores of 71 and 72, leaving him one stroke over par. Other players who missed the cut include A. Garcia-Heredia (Spain), A. Wilson (England), Y. Paul (Germany), and B. Schmidt (England).

Chris Wood, however, can take solace in his recent performance at the Turkish Airlines Open in May, where he secured his first DP World Tour top 10 since 2018 after battling anxiety and trauma.

As the FedEx Open de France enters its final two rounds, the race for the title is wide open. With Armitage leading the way, the remaining players will need to step up their game to challenge for the coveted trophy.
