Bremerhaven Wins Playoff Opener Against Nuremberg - Fischtown Pinguins crush Nuremberg 4-0 in playoff opener

Bremerhaven's Fischtown Pinguins have taken a strong lead in their playoff series against Nuremberg. The team dominated the first game with a 4-0 victory, putting them one win away from the quarterfinals. The next match will take place in Nuremberg on Friday, with a possible decider on Sunday.

The Fischtown Pinguins entered the playoffs as the third seed in the DEL regular season. Their consistent performance earned them a direct spot in the quarterfinals, bypassing the initial knockout rounds. Now facing the 10th-placed Nürnberg Ice Tigers, they showed their strength early.

The opening game was a one-sided affair. Bremerhaven controlled play from the start, winning each period (1-0, 1-0, 2-0). Goals came from Ross Mauermann, who scored twice, along with Nico Krämmer and C.J. Smith. The series follows a best-of-three format, meaning the first team to secure two wins advances. If Nuremberg fails to respond in Friday's match, Bremerhaven will move on to face Adler Mannheim in the quarterfinals. Mannheim, as the higher seed, will hold home-ice advantage in that round.

A win on Friday would send Bremerhaven through to the next stage. The team's regular-season form and playoff opener suggest they are in strong contention. The Ice Tigers must now respond quickly to keep their postseason hopes alive.
