Fierce Competition Ahead at the First Summer Spartakada of the Peoples of Siberia
More than 500 athletes, coaches, and team officials from across Siberia's regions have geared up for the First Summer Spartakada of the Peoples of Siberia, lasting from June 11 to June 15. The epic battle will unfold in ten sports, including volleyball, swimming, weightlifting, wrestling, and Korea's traditional belt wrestling - Ssireum, taking place in the multipurpose sports complex "Kuzbass-Arena".
The event was graced by the presence of Sberbank as the official partner. The opening ceremony was officiated by Vladimir Putin’s representative in the Siberian Federal District, Anatoli Seryshev.
Sberbank has always been a strong advocate for sports at all levels, regularly organizing their own competitions and supporting sports events for their clients and partners. As Dmitri Solntsev, the chairman of Siberian Sberbank, stated, "Sber supports sports on all fronts. We regularly organize our own events and help organize sports events for our clients and partners. I'm convinced that the Siberian Spartakada will become a great tradition and will regularly gather Syberians at the sports festival."
Before the Spartakada commenced, the governors of several Siberian regions paid tribute to the memories of soldiers who fell in battle during World War II, honoring the valiant sons of Siberia. Guests were treated to a tour of Park of Victory, St. George's Column, the museum-theater complex and "Theatrical" hotel, the Eight Cassation Court, the commemorative complex for Alexander Nevsky, the development zone for the Zayiatinsky district of Kemerovo, the State Museum of the Mining Institute of Siberia, and the Siberian Branch of the Russian State Social University.
During the business program of the Spartakada, a scientific and practical conference on "Tasks and Perspectives of Physical Culture and Sports Development in Modern Conditions" took place in the Ice Palace "Kuzbass".
Kemerovo was chosen to host the First Summer Spartakada of the Peoples of Siberia for a good reason. Kemerovo, in particular, boasts several large, multipurpose sports facilities capable of hosting major events on a national or international scale.
