First ‘Michael’ Biopic Trailer Reveals Jaafar Jackson’s Stunning Transformation as the King of Pop

The first teaser trailer for 'Michael', a biopic about the life of Michael Jackson, has been released. The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua and scripted by John Logan, will hit cinemas on April 24, 2026. It explores Michael's journey from his discovery as a lead singer of The Jackson 5 to his rise as the world's biggest entertainer.

Jaafar Jackson, Michael's nephew, takes on the role of his iconic uncle in the biopic. The trailer showcases Jaafar masterfully recreating Michael's signature Moonwalk and scenes from the 'Thriller' music video. The cast also includes notable actors such as Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson and Nia Long as Katherine Jackson.

The trailer notably avoids any mention of Michael Jackson's legal troubles, including his 2005 child molestation trial. This is due to a legal agreement between Jackson's estate and his accuser, which prohibited the inclusion of the accuser in the film. Consequently, the movie ends after Michael's rise to fame in the 1980s, excluding his scandal-plagued later years. The film's production faced delays due to script issues surrounding the 1993 sexual abuse allegation against Michael by Jordan Chandler.

The release of 'Michael' promises to offer fans a glimpse into the early life and rise to fame of the King of Pop. With Jaafar Jackson's impressive portrayal and a talented cast, the biopic is set to captivate audiences. However, the film's decision to focus on Michael's earlier years and avoid his controversies may spark debate among viewers.
