The motive? Menopause impacts both personal and professional aspects of a woman's life, according to the KVR.

Discovering the 9-Million-Strong Impact of Menopause in Germany

Menopause, or the climacteric, is the transition from the fertile phase of a woman's life to the postmenopausal stage. In Germany, approximately 9 million women experience this phase.

A 2025 report by essential hygiene brand Essity suggests that nearly 1 billion women worldwide will encounter menopause. Surprisingly, men can also be affected by this life stage.

As reported by the KVR in Munich, menopause remains a hidden issue within professional environments. According to their analysis,. "More than half of the women surveyed report exhaustion, sleep disorders, irritability, depressive moods, or hot flushes during menopause." Unfortunately, they do not receive the proper support at work.

Two-thirds of these women experience decreased concentration, heightened stress, or even forgo potential career advancements. Almost half of them have already taken sick leave or unpaid time off due to menopause-related symptoms.

Hanna Sammüller-Gradl, KVR's Green Party leader, advocates for improved understanding and accommodation for affected women. Her team seeks to empower managers and employees by addressing their sensitivities towards the issue.

Only eleven out of 1626 employed women attended the two-hour workshop.
