Fires in Ávila are now managed, and those in Cáceres have been stabilized.

In early August 2025, the fire in Caminomorisco, located in the Las Hurdes region of Cáceres, continues to burn, albeit largely stabilized. The fire has consumed close to 2,600 hectares within a 28.5-kilometre perimeter [1][3][5].

Approximately 400 personnel have managed to stabilize 65 to 70 percent of the fire’s perimeter, with progress aided by improved weather and reduced wind. However, some parts, especially the northwestern side near Avellanar with difficult terrain, remain a challenge for full containment [1].

The fire started on July 29, has triggered the evacuation of around 200 residents from six surrounding villages, and firefighting efforts are expected to continue for several more days before the blaze is fully under control. The overall situation is described as "relatively favourable" but complex due to terrain and weather, with the authorities maintaining a high state of alert alongside other simultaneous wildfires in Spain [1].

While there is no exact date given for when control will be fully achieved, ongoing containment work suggests that control could be expected only after several more days of sustained firefighting [1]. However, a forecast of storms this afternoon could potentially pose a threat, as the storm could bring changing and gusty winds that could take the fire out of the already perimetrated areas.

Meanwhile, the fire in the Barranco de las Cinco Villas, south of Ávila, continues to be active but its evolution is favorable [1]. The Autonomous Administration has vowed to take legal action against the perpetrators of the Barranco de las Cinco Villas fire as soon as their identity is determined. The Minister of the Environment of Castile and León, Juan Carlos Suárez-Quiñones, has denounced a "maximum intentionality" in the origin of the Barranco de las Cinco Villas fire [1].

Elsewhere in Spain, the A Cañiza fire in Pontevedra has burned around 300 hectares and is evolving favorably towards stabilization. The fire started in up to five different points almost simultaneously, suggesting a clear intention [1].

The technical director of extinction, Alejandro Peñalvo, indicated that the operation has a lot of work ahead because "many areas have been partially burned" [2]. The delegate of the Junta in Ávila, José Francisco Hernández, expressed regret over the loss of hectares affected by the fire [2].

As of now, the fire in Caminomorisco is without active flames, but the perimeter is not yet secured [4]. Nearly 29 agents, 45 brigades, 30 water pumps, five shovels, nine technicians, seven technical support units, seven planes and 10 helicopters have been mobilized for the extinction of this fire, with personnel from the Military Emergency Unit (UME) also participating in the extinction tasks [6].

Despite the ongoing efforts, the evacuation of six residents of Avellanar remains in place, and they may not be able to return to their homes tonight [7]. The authorities urge the public to stay vigilant and to follow all safety instructions during this critical period.
