The Krasnodar region in Russia is currently grappling with a heightened fire hazard situation, following a series of recent incidents and unfavourable weather conditions.

In a concerning turn of events, two significant fires were reported at oil refineries in the region. On May 4, 2025, an attack by an unidentified drone ignited a petroleum tank covering approximately 400 square meters at the Ilsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai. The emergency response involved 167 personnel and 37 special pieces of equipment, and fortunately, no casualties were reported. Another fire occurred around the same time in the Temryuk District of Krasnodar Krai, suggesting a pattern of drone-related attacks on oil infrastructure in the region.

In response to these incidents, a special fire prevention regime has been enforced in all municipal districts of the Kuban region. However, specific actions taken by local authorities or refinery management post-incident are not detailed in the current reports. Given the nature of these attacks, the need for enhanced aerial security, particularly drone detection and interception, seems critical.

Meteorologically, Krasnodar Krai is experiencing a high risk of fires due to drought conditions and abnormally high temperatures. Forecasts for July 2025 indicate temperatures above +30°C combined with precipitation levels about half the normal amount, leading to increased dryness and fire risk. The climate is characterized by hot, dry weather with low humidity, which exacerbates the fire hazard.

In the past 24 hours, 24 fires were eliminated by EMERCOM in the Kuban region, and one person was rescued. No new fires were reported, and no new person was rescued by EMERCOM. No incidents were registered on water bodies or on traffic in the Kuban region during this period. Four administrative protocols were issued for landscape fires and violations of open fire use regulations.

Despite these efforts, the 4th degree fire hazard remains in effect in Beloglin and Novopokrovsky districts of the Kuban region. No 5th degree fire hazard has been reported in the region.

Given the combination of targeted attacks and adverse weather, the fire hazard situation in Krasnodar remains elevated and requires continued vigilance from emergency services and infrastructure operators. It is crucial for the public to adhere to the special fire prevention regime and to exercise caution during this critical period.

The escalating fire hazard in Krasnodar, caused by both general-news events like drone attacks on oil refineries and unfavourable weather conditions, has led to a heightened risk of accidents. The weather forecast for July 2025 indicates a high risk of fires due to abnormally high temperatures and reduced precipitation, which could potentially exacerbate the situation.
