Firefighting Association in North Rhine-Westphalia (VdF NRW) branches under the "Diversity Network" banner will join the Cologne Pride Parade (CSD) on July 9, 2023.

In the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia, a vibrant spectacle is set to unfold as firefighters from various locations across the region join forces to participate in the CSD parade in Cologne. Andreas Kirchharz, the project coordinator of the 'Network Diversity' within the Association of Fire Brigades in NRW (VdF NRW), is leading this unique contingent. The 'Network Diversity' is a network within the VdF NRW, based in Wuppertal, and consists of around 65 members who are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion within the fire service. Sixty-five firefighters, hailing from different fire departments across North Rhine-Westphalia, will be part of this colourful demonstration. Two emergency vehicles, one from Cologne and one from Gelsenkirchen, will accompany the VdF NRW network participants in the parade. The CSD parade in Cologne on July 9, 2023, is expected to be the most colourful and longest in history, with more than 230 groups participating. The parade route will take participants past significant landmarks such as the Deutz bridge and the cathedral. Claudia Roth, a prominent political figure, will serve as the guest of honour at the VdF NRW's demonstration. Susanne Stupp, the current mayor of the city of Frechen, is an honourary guest among the firefighters active in the network. The news of the CSD demo and the participation of the 'Network Diversity' was transmitted by news aktuell. For press inquiries, one can reach out to Andreas Kirchharz or Christoph Schoeneborn at the Association of Fire Brigades in NRW. The association can also be contacted via their website or phone number provided. In a show of solidarity and camaraderie, the firefighters participating in the parade will carry fire extinguisher backpacks filled with water. These will be used to create a 'wet and cheerful atmosphere' during the parade, providing refreshing moments for the audience along the parade route, especially during summer temperatures. The phrase 'A little bit of wet fun must be!' suggests that the firefighters will engage in light-hearted water activities. Dönges, a system supplier for fire equipment, is providing ten fire extinguisher backpacks for the emergency forces participating in the CSD parade. The firefighters participating in the CSD demo represent the diverse fire departments across the country, demonstrating their commitment to equality and inclusivity. Andreas Kirchharz expresses pride and gratitude for the broad acceptance of the 'Network Diversity' work. As the CSD parade approaches, the firefighters are eager to bring their unique energy and spirit to the celebrations, making this year's event one to remember.
