Firefighters Tackle Severe Isle of Man Flooding for Hours
Firefighters battled severe flooding across the Isle of Man on Tuesday morning, with multiple incidents reported and emergency services deployed for several hours.
The day began with a serious flooding incident in Port Erin at 8:15 AM, with Erin Lane and Erin Close particularly affected. Port Erin Commissioners and Manx Utilities staff joined firefighters in tackling the flood.
At 9:15 AM, Douglas fire station responded to flooding on Brown Cow Hill, Santon. Around the same time, at 9:20 AM, Castletown fire station was called to a property on Phildraw Road, Ballasalla. Both stations deployed multiple pumps and crews to manage the flood.
Due to the scale of the incidents, additional resources were called in. Rushen fire station sent pumping equipment and sandbags to protect properties. More pumps and crew from Douglas fire station were also deployed to assist in Ballasalla.
Fire and Rescue Service advised residents to keep drains and gullies clear in anticipation of further rain.
Firefighters were in attendance for about four hours, working tirelessly to manage the flood and protect properties. The incidents serve as a reminder for residents to prepare for potential flooding and keep drainage systems clear.
