Firefighters on standby during early-hour weather disturbances

Alert: Heavy Rain in Ingolstadt! 🚨

Today, our beloved city of Ingolstadt faced a major challenge! At approximately 07:00 this morning, a series of weather-related incidents unfolded in the city's southern sector. Caught off guard by sudden downpours and fierce gusts, we found ourselves battling 13 incidents, primarily in the south.

The local fire department sprang into action, dealing with everything from fallen trees blocking roads and flooded streets and underpasses to flooded basements. But the storm didn't stop there! An automatic fire alarm in the Munich Street was triggered, most likely as a result of a lightning strike. Don't worry, no fire was found on the scene.

Reports of fallen trees obstructing the highway couldn't be confirmed by emergency services. But if you think that was the end of it, you certainly haven't been paying attention! The brave volunteers from the fire stations of Unsernherrn, Zuchering, Ringsee, Hagau, and Brunnenreuth also joined the battle to keep our city safe.

Remember, this wasn't just an isolated event for Ingolstadt. Across southern Germany during the nights of June 4-5, 2025, over 200 incidents related to severe weather were reported, with Ingolstadt taking a significant hit [1]. Our dear city even experienced injuries, like a cyclist struck by a fallen tree in nearby Manching, as well as minor accidents due to aquaplaning on the A8 towards Munich [1].

In case you wondered, the stormy weather matched the warning issued in the afternoon of June 4 that continued into the night of June 5, which predicted severe thunderstorms persisting in southern Germany, accompanied by heavy rainfall, hail, and strong winds [1][4].

Let's continue to stand together, Ingolstadt! The storm may have shaken us, but our spirit remains unbroken. We will rebuild, heal, and grow stronger in the face of adversity. Always remember: there's no force powerful enough to bring us down! 🌪️🌱💪
