Notably, this blaze consumed 183 acres in just two hours when it first erupted, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. The firefighters' primary objective was to keep the inferno from infiltrating the hillsides, acknowledges Cal Fire Capt. Thomas Shoots, who spoke with the San Diego Union Tribune.

Initially, the blaze was tackled by aircraft and over 100 firefighters. Despite the challenging steep hillside terrain and rapid fire spread, they managed to contain the fire to 5% as of 8:45 PM. The majority of the fire's activity was found on the eastern flank.

Sadly, road closures are in effect on Henderson Road, Pala Mission Road, State Route 76, and Magee Road, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. However, a temporary evacuation site has been set up in the Pala Casino parking lot.

Looking ahead, Saturday's weather may present challenges for firefighters. The National Weather Service forecasts a high of 91 degrees and wind gusts up to 25 mph in the region.
