Rescue forces pull lifeless floating person from the Ruhr - Firefighter diver saves unresponsive person from Ruhr River in dramatic rescue
Emergency services swiftly responded to a distress call on Wednesday evening, rescuing an unresponsive individual from the Ruhr River near downtown Mülheim. The person was spotted by an angler around 7 p.m. and brought to safety by a firefighter diver.
The rescue operation involved multiple teams, including a police helicopter and boats from the German Lifeguard Association (DLRG). They located the person within minutes and initiated immediate care. The firefighter diver brought the individual to the shore of Schleuseninsel for initial treatment by paramedics. Resuscitation efforts were underway during the transfer to the hospital. Subsequently, the person was transported by boat to the opposite bank and taken to a hospital by ambulance.
