Fire Weather Watch Issued for Northern Colorado Foothills Monday

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Northern Colorado, covering parts of Larimer County and nearby regions. The alert warns of extreme wildfire risks starting Monday morning, with conditions expected to worsen through the afternoon.

Forecasters predict near-record temperatures combined with strong westerly winds, creating dangerous fire conditions. Gusts could reach 55 mph, while humidity may drop as low as 9 to 10 percent. These factors raise the risk of rapid fire spread, particularly in higher elevations and along the Front Range foothills.

The watch remains in effect from Monday morning until late afternoon. Residents in affected areas are advised to avoid outdoor burning and activities that could generate sparks. This includes yard work with power equipment, which could easily ignite dry vegetation. Officials have not yet issued Red Flag Warnings but urge the public to stay updated. The combination of high winds, low humidity, and dry fuels makes the situation volatile.

The Fire Weather Watch highlights the need for caution in foothill and mountain communities. Residents should follow safety guidelines and avoid actions that could trigger wildfires. Conditions are expected to ease after Monday afternoon, but risks remain high until then.
