Fire-stricken family rescued - Burnt-out recreational boat retrieved from the Elbe River
In the heart of Hamburg, on the Norderelbe, a dramatic rescue unfolded on Sunday. Christian von Stamm, one of the last remaining Elbe fishermen, bravely rescued a family from the water after their sports boat went up in flames.
The sports boat, carrying a family of three—two adults and a five-year-old girl—was engulfed by thick smoke and flames that emerged from its engine compartment. The father managed to escape onto his boat before the sports boat was consumed by the flames.
