Fire engine and passenger car collide in Halle, leaving one critically injured
A serious collision took place in Halle (Saale) on Tuesday evening when a passenger car and a fire engine crashed at the intersection of Magistrale and Feuerwache streets. The accident, which occurred at around 9:10 p.m., left one person severely injured and nine others with minor wounds. Emergency crews rushed to the scene to assist those involved.
The crash happened as the Nietleben Volunteer Fire Brigade's fire engine, responding to an emergency call, collided with the side of the car. The impact trapped the 82-year-old passenger inside the wreckage. Paramedics, multiple ambulances, and a rescue helicopter were quickly dispatched to provide medical aid.
The 81-year-old driver of the car and eight other individuals suffered minor injuries, while the elderly passenger sustained serious harm. Firefighters and rescue teams worked to free the trapped person before transporting them for urgent treatment. Authorities have yet to confirm the exact cause but noted that slippery road conditions may have played a role.
The estimated cost of the damage from the collision stands at €60,000. Police and rescue services remained at the scene to investigate and clear the area following the incident.
