Last Sunday, the Oeventrop fire station in Arnsberg opened its doors to the public after extensive renovations, offering a unique opportunity for guests to immerse themselves in the world of firefighting. The event, organised by the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Oeventrop (Volunteer Fire Department Oeventrop), was a resounding success, attracting a diverse crowd of all ages.

The day began with a captivating performance by the junior fire brigade at 11 a.m., setting the stage for an action-packed afternoon. At around 2 p.m., the youth fire brigade demonstrated their skills by fighting a simulated vegetation fire, showcasing their dedication and precision.

For those eager to experience the challenges faced by firefighters, a self-built breathing protection course was available. Visitors could don real protective clothing and breathing apparatus, venturing into a fogged section to find and rescue a training dummy. This hands-on experience offered a glimpse into the physical demands and the importance of proper breathing protection in the line of duty.

Guests also had the opportunity to fight a fire at a training fire-fighting facility, learning firsthand the techniques used to extinguish blazes. A Jenga game using a fire-fighting spreader added a fun twist to the day, allowing visitors to test their strategy skills while learning about firefighting equipment.

For the youngest visitors, a bouncy castle provided hours of entertainment, ensuring there was something for everyone. A turntable ladder from the "Brennpunkt" museum was on display, offering a historical perspective on firefighting equipment.

The open house day was covered by news aktuell, providing a wider audience with a glimpse into the event. To conclude the day, a large raffle was held, with a total of 108 prizes awarded to lucky participants.
