Fire Department in Mechernich City Upgrades with 3 New Emergency Lighting Vehicles for Volunteer Firefighters

On July 29, 2025, the Volunteer Fire Department of Mechernich received three new command vehicles, marking a significant milestone for the department. The delivery, which took place in Langerwehe, Germany, was completed after a series of delays due to various circumstances.

The person responsible for the completion of these vehicles was Jörg Schmidt. The vehicles were built by the vehicle bodybuilder company Reinartz, with contributions from several other companies including MAN Frechen, PTS Group GmbH Dormagen, Schäfer Metallbau Obergartzem, BNS Berners-Nutzfahrzeug-Service GmbH, Fahrzeugtechnik Glasmacher GmbH Bergheim, and Reinartz Vehicle Bodybuilding in Langerwehe.

The bidding process for these vehicles began in May 2021. Eleven members from the stations in Bleibuir, Kommern, and Obergartzem, along with representatives of the department leadership, were present at the delivery.

The vehicles delivered are command vehicles specifically of the type ELW1. After acceptance in Langerwehe, the vehicles were taken to the city of Mechernich and are now in service at the local stations (Bleibuir, Kommern, and Obergartzem).
