Small Wildfire Near Greyrock Trailhead Continues to be Investigated

A small wildfire that broke out near the Greyrock Trailhead in Poudre Canyon, Bellvue, CO, on August 5, 2025, has been ongoing as of Tuesday morning. The fire, which started near the 8700 block of Poudre Canyon Road (West Highway 14), burned less than one acre but resulted in the destruction of a single home.

The incident prompted a voluntary evacuation for residents in the surrounding area, which lasted approximately two hours before being lifted as the fire was contained. Emergency vehicles are still active in the Greyrock Trailhead area as crews work to mop up hot spots.

Firefighters from the Poudre Canyon Fire Protection District, Larimer County Sheriff's Office, UCHealth EMS, and emergency services responded quickly to contain the blaze just before sunrise on August 6. Investigators and crime scene personnel conducted a thorough search of the hazardous structure to process the scene.

Unfortunately, human remains were found inside the burned home, but the identity has not yet been determined. The cause of the fire remains under active investigation by Larimer County authorities.

A voluntary evacuation was issued, and it was sent to 591 registered contacts. Deputies went door-to-door to ensure nearby residents were aware of the situation during the evacuation period. The voluntary evacuation order was lifted at approximately 3:50 a.m.
