Fire at Home Results in Tragic Consequence Regarding Meteorological Conditions
In the early hours of this morning, a residential and commercial building on Königstraße in Wetter (Ruhr) was engulfed in flames. The alarm level was raised to "Fire, multiple rescues", resulting in the deployment of additional fire units and rescue service vehicles.
Flames were visible from the outside on the second floor of the apartment, and a person was reported to be inside. Two teams in breathing apparatus were immediately deployed for the rescue in the affected apartment. Unfortunately, the person was found lifeless, and the on-site doctor could only confirm the death.
Mayor Frank Hasenberg visited the site to assess the situation and thank the deployed forces for their swift response. He expressed his sympathy to the residents and offered any support needed. The local authority of the city of Wetter (Ruhr) was on site and arranged accommodation for the residents due to the building being currently uninhabitable.
An unpleasant incident occurred at the deployment site: a driver ignored the barrier and ran over an emergency responder's boot. Thankfully, the steel toe of their boot prevented any injury. A criminal complaint has been filed against the driver by the city of Wetter (Ruhr).
After extinguishing the fire, further coordination with the police took place. No glowing embers were found after a small opening was created in the roof area using the second turntable ladder to monitor with a thermal imaging camera. The Technical Relief Agency secured the damaged window via the turntable ladder.
One firefighter was slightly injured during the operation and taken to the hospital for examination. The PSU team (Psychosocial Support) of the fire department Wetter (Ruhr) was on site to provide care and debriefing for the residents.
At this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown. The police will now conduct an investigation into the cause of the fire. If you have any specific date or additional details, a more targeted search or official local news sources closer to that date might provide relevant information.
