The Final Countdown
Models Heidi Klum Finalizes: Remaining Six Contestants Advance to Germany's Next Topmodel Final - Finalists Announced for Germany's Next Top Model: Heidi Klum Chooses Six Candidates
As the competition heats up, the remaining models take a trip down memory lane, revisiting their audition tapes and sharing poignant stories about their pasts. Jannik recalls being bullied for his love of hip-hop, while Magdalena and Canel open up about struggles with bullying and devastating personal losses.
The models are then faced with their last major challenge: producing a magazine cover shoot for "Harper's Bazaar" under the tutelage of Editor-in-Chief Kerstin Schneider and Heidi Klum. The theme is "Roadtrip," where models must pose casually yet flawlessly while posing near a classic, blue car.
Moritz confidently takes the first spot, impressing Heidi Klum with his natural talent. Jannik and Pierre receive glowing praise as well, with Schneider commenting, "I am at a loss for words, I am blown away." Zoe and Magdalena shine among the women, but Magdalena struggles with sudden rain showers. Canel struggles to find the right poses, and Heidi Klum notes, "It seems she's about to topple out of the car." Eliob fails to perform, with his blank expression and lack of control over his hands leaving Klum and Schneider unimpressed.
A Shopping Frenzy
The GNTM contestants become "Shopping Queens" in a special episode featuring Guido Maria Kretschmer, where they are challenged to create two outfits – one day and one night – with a limited budget. Heidi Klum gives her models a budget of $1,500 USD and pairs them up to purchase outfits in just two hours. Canel relishes her newfound wealth, exclaiming, "I felt rich as hell!" Pierre, on the other hand, hates shopping and is overwhelmed by the experience. Eliob makes an unfortunate mistake by exceeding his budget, leading him to return a shirt and shoes.
A Special Guest Judge
Established winners of GNTM have previously featured on the cover of "Cosmopolitan." Since 2018, winners have graced the cover of "Harper's Bazaar." In 2024, Jermaine Kokou Kothe made history as the first male winner of GNTM. This year, Editor-in-Chief of "Harper's Bazaar," Kerstin Schneider, evaluates the contestants' performances during the photoshoot and runway show.
The women strut their stuff first, with Zoe sporting a leopard top and jeans. Heidi Klum comments, "That brings me back to my youth." Magdalena's outfit is likened to something Klum's daughter, Lou, wore to school that day. Canel's outfit leaves the GNTM boss unimpressed, saying, "The look is way too normal, as if she's just running errands."
Moritz shines among the men, leaving the judges impressed with his versatility. Jannik receives criticism for his black suit and bow tie outfit, with Heidi Klum noting, "It's a bit too stripper-ish." Pierre and Eliob also fail to impress the judges, both appearing underdressed and with ill-fitting suits. Eliob, who ran out of money during the shopping challenge, walks barefoot, failing to leave a lasting impression.
Time to Say Goodbye
Canel and Eliob are eliminated from the competition. Heidi Klum explains her decision, saying, "Canel never convincingly held her own during the shoots, and Eliob failed to secure a single job." Despite their elimination, both models remain optimistic, with Canel vowing, "I'm grateful for everything. I won't give up and hope to conquer the runways of the world," and Eliob expressing gratitude for the experiences gained during his time on the show.
The four remaining models – Zoe, Magdalena, Daniela, Moritz, Pierre, and Jannik – will compete in the GNTM finale, set to take place live in Cologne on June 19, 2025.
