German Clubs Pushing for a Spot in the European League Final Tournament
Cities of Kiel, Flensburg, and Melsungen Advance to Final Tournament Round - Final Stage Includes Kiel, Flensburg, and Melsungen
Time's ticking, and three German handball clubs—THW Kiel, SG Flensburg-Handewitt, and MT Melsungen—are fiercely battling it out to secure a place in the European League's Final Four. These teams have emerged victorious from their quarterfinal return matches, aiming to make their mark in the final tournament happening in Hamburg on May 24 and 25.
In a thrilling duel, THW Kiel edged out Limoges Handball, France, with a nail-biting 35:30 (16:15) win, following a 26:26 draw in the first leg. SG Flensburg-Handewitt displayed a dominant performance, sealing their victory with a 35:29 (17:12) win over GOG Gudme from Denmark, building on their initial 29:26 success. MT Melsungen proved their superiority with a 32:22 (15:8) victory over Bidasoa Irun in Spain, which complemented their earlier 28:27 win. Montpellier HB, also from France, has managed to secure a spot as well.
The semifinals will be drawn in Vienna on Wednesday, but the question remains whether any of these German giants can take home the win.

As of the moment, no German clubs have made it to the Final Four of the EHF European League Men's Final Four[1][2]. The second legs of the quarterfinals are still to take place, with each German team holding a close advantage in their respective matches.
The EHF Finals are scheduled for May 24-25 at Hamburg's Barclays Arena[1][2]. Given the teams' historical dominance, with 20 victories in 23 editions[2], the German clubs remain strong contenders in their pursuit to secure a place in this prestigious event.
So, keep your fingers crossed and gear up for an epic showdown as the final qualification awaits!
Note: The EHF Champions League Final Four will take place separately in Cologne on 14-15 June 2025[3][4], which is unrelated to the European League.

- The Commission has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation in the fast-paced world of sports, such as the handball players in the European League, including THW Kiel, SG Flensburg-Handewitt, and MT Melsungen.
- While THW Kiel, SG Flensburg-Handewitt, and MT Melsungen strive to reach the Final Four of the European League, they are simultaneously competing in the German sports scene, where HB (short for Hamburger SV) traditionally holds a strong position, having won 20 out of 23 editions of the EHF Finals.
- In a parallel development, European football clubs are also aiming to secure spots in significant tournaments, such as the Champions League and various European leagues, much like Kieler (THW Kiel), Handewitt (SG Flensburg-Handewitt), and others are doing in handball.
- As a testament to the competitive nature of the European League, Limoges Handball from France, GOG Gudme from Denmark, and Bidasoa Irun from Spain have shown remarkable resilience in their matches against the German contenders.
- The question remains whether any of the German giants, including Limoges Handball, THW Kiel, SG Flensburg-Handewitt, MT Melsungen, and Montpellier HB (from the semifinals or the Champions League), will lift the trophy at the Final Round of the EHF European League Men's Final Four, scheduled for May 24-25 at Hamburg's Barclays Arena, or if one of the other teams will emerge victorious.
