Film's mastermind of armaments praises the upcoming horror flick as "enjoyable, frightening" and "oddball, more bizarre than Barbarian."

Get ready, horror enthusiasts! Director Zach Cregger promises that his upcoming movie, Weapons, will be even wilder than Barbarian. And if you've seen Barbarian, you know that's saying something.

"It's a fun movie. It's funny, it's scary, it's inviting. It's not a grim, morose slog. And yet the story it tells is really fucked up," Cregger told Empire, calling Weapons a "creatively ambitious" work, that's "a lot bigger and weirder than Barbarian."

If you're unfamiliar with Barbarian, it's a twisted 2022 movie about a young woman who rents a home only to find someone already living there. But that's not the weirdest part – the house's terrifying basement holds a shocking secret.

In contrast, Weapons is a standalone film that follows an entirely different premise. The movie takes place in a town where all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly 2:17am. Here's hoping The Mother isn't behind this one.

The film features a stellar cast, including Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan.

Weapons is set to hit theaters on August 8. For more, check out our list of the best horror movies or keep up with upcoming horror movies that'll send chills down your spine.
