Filming of the Superhero Action Movie "Sa'a Bo'tur" underway in Yakutia

Whoop it up, Marvel and DC fans! Yakutian cinema turns a new page as local studios dive into superhero action filmmaking.

A full fourteen years have passed since the release of the groundbreaking flick "Heroes. Battle for the Cup," and thirteen years since its sequel. Despite the initial focus being on the kids' phenomenal physical prep and lacking flashy special effects, these flicks were a breakthrough for Yakutian cinema.

Fast-forward a decade, and we've upgraded our technologies. It feels high time Yakutia produced its own action-packed superhero movie, don't you think?

"Multiple generations have grown up on superhero movies. These films are sources of inspiration, motivation, and unity for crowds of people, fostering communities as everyone needs their own superhero symbolizing courage and self-confidence. Our project, 'New Warrior,' aims to kick off the Yakutian film industry's foray into superhero films in the Yakutian language," voiced the enthusiastic team.

Taking a Chance

Producing films of this caliber and scale is always a roll of the dice. Special effects creation is a lengthy and intricate process. Our aspirations might not always align with our capabilities. Nevertheless, the team is brimming with determination and ambition. Who wouldn't want to contribute to such an exciting project?

"Each and every member of our team is eagerly awaiting the upcoming shoot. I emphasize on a well-coordinated teamwork and thorough preparation. Sure, it'll be challenging, but it also presents an exceptional opportunity for each team member to showcase their talents, spotlight the capabilities of Yakutian cinema, and create a captivating movie resonating with the young generation," articulated the executive producer, Apollinaria Degtyareva.

The Story Unfolded

The script supremo for this flick is Alexei Sobakin, our very own Yakutian Stan Lee! You might have caught his humorous short videos addressing contemporary issues or seen his work on the box office hit, "My Boyfriend is an Idol."

A Peek into the Plot: "Sanga Bootur" shares the tale of a student suddenly blessed with the powers of a real-life Bootur, responsible for defending the sacred festival of Ysyakh from the Underworld's malevolent forces.

"Last summer, during lunch, I found myself pondering, 'I'd love to watch a movie about a super-strong Bootur participating in the Dygyna Games!' After getting my wife's go-ahead, I began crafting a synopsis. The film's universe is based on Olonho, so I sought advice from Olonho experts to ensure audience familiarity with our heroic epic," Alexei shared about his creative process.

Behind the Scenes

The script will make its way onto the big screen through the vision of young director Ayal Strukhin, known for helming the romantic comedy "My Boyfriend is an Idol." Petr Ivanov takes on the role of the cinematographer.

The crew has already embarked on planning the production, designing costumes, props, and selecting shooting locations. They prioritize catering to the audience's preferences, aiming for a cinematic experience suitable for both the young and family audiences.

"I aspire to showcase Yakut folklore and national culture in an innovative, contemporary light. Furthermore, I yearn to craft a heartwarming story meant for family viewing. Taking on something new is exciting - it seems that there's no superhero movie in Yakut cinema yet. I look forward to an enjoyable creative journey. It's essential to find joy in the process and disregard the obstacles, focusing instead on the mantra 'I can'." - said Ayal Strukhin.

The film will see a widespread release across the republic. The makers believe the story may also captivate viewers beyond Yakutia's borders, considering the genre's popularity.

Auditions have begun for the lead roles: a guy, a girl, an older man, and an older woman. Casting calls are extended for supporting roles for both male and female actors of all ages.
