"Filming of 'Super Troopers 3' commences, with Brian Cox, Chace Crawford, and additional Broken Lizard cast members on board"
The comedy team Broken Lizard, consisting of Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske, are reteaming with Searchlight Pictures for a third installment of the "Super Troopers" franchise. Principal photography on "Super Troopers 3" is set to commence later this week.
Jay Chandrasekhar will once again take the helm as director, with Richard Perello producing. The comedy team, known for their hilarious antics in the "Super Troopers" franchise, will be joined by Brian Cox, Chace Crawford, and Andrew Dismukes. Cox and Crawford are reprising their roles from the "Super Troopers" franchise, while Dismukes is a new addition to the cast.
Cox, who appeared in both "Super Troopers" and "Super Troopers 2," has also acted in films such as "The Ring," "X2: X-Men United," "Troy," "The Bourne Supremacy," and "Rise of the Planet of the Apes." He won an Emmy for "Nuremberg" and received critical acclaim for his role in "Succession." Crawford, known for his roles in "The Boys" and "Gossip Girl," has also joined the cast. Dismukes, who was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for his work on "Saturday Night Live," is another exciting addition to the cast.
Nat Faxon, who has penned and directed numerous Searchlight Pictures titles, will also be joining the cast. Faxon's addition to the cast adds another layer of comedy and talent to the already impressive lineup.
Apolline Berty, Richard Ruiz, and Daniel Yu are overseeing the "Super Troopers 3" project for Searchlight Pictures. They report to Co-Heads of Film Production & Development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.
Marisa Coughlan, who was in both "Super Troopers" and "Super Troopers 2," has film credits including "Space Station 76," "Already Dead," "Teaching Mrs. Tingle," and "Meet Bill." Her TV credits include "Legacies," "How to Be a Gentleman", "Man Up!" and "Bones." Heffernan and Lemme are the creators and stars of TruTV's hit comedy "Tacoma FD."
Searchlight Pictures President Matthew Greenfield expressed excitement for another entry in the "Super Troopers" saga. "Super Troopers" was released by Fox Searchlight in 2001 and won the Audience Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival. The sequel, released in 2018, also directed by Chandrasekhar and written by and starring the entire Broken Lizard group, was a hit with fans.
Chandrasekhar stated that Broken Lizard is excited to help bring the theatrical comedy back. "Super Troopers 3" promises to be another hilarious installment in the beloved franchise. Stay tuned for more updates on the production of "Super Troopers 3."
