The upcoming Bollywood movie, "Honeymoon in Shillong," is set to delve into the tragic events surrounding the murder of businessman Raja Raghuvanshi. Directed by S P Nimbawat, the film is based on real events, with a script that is nearly completed as of mid-2025.

Raja Raghuvanshi and his bride Sonam got married in Indore on May 11 and went on their honeymoon to Meghalaya on May 20. Tragically, the couple went missing on May 23 during their honeymoon in Shillong. Raja's body was found near a waterfall in Shillong on June 2. Sonam resurfaced in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh on June 9, and along with Raj Kushwaha and three associates, Vishal, Akash, and Anand, were later arrested in connection with Raja Raghuvanshi's murder.

The proposed film will focus on the events leading up to Raja's murder, the police investigation, and the arrests. The movie is said to be roughly 50% true to real events, with creative liberties taken to enhance dramatic effect. The production will shoot about 80% of the scenes in Indore to depict the family surroundings and approximately 20% on location in Meghalaya to retain authenticity and highlight the state's natural beauty.

The family of the slain businessman has given consent for the film to be made. They hope that the movie will present the emotional and psychological aspects while delivering a societal message and restoring Meghalaya’s image, which may have been tarnished following the incident.

As of July 2025, the casting for the movie has not been publicly revealed. However, it is rumoured that the star cast may be decided within a week. Two other Bollywood producers were also interested in making a movie on the incident, but the script shown by Mr. Nimbawat was preferred.

The shooting for the movie is expected to begin on August 15 and is expected to take around three months to complete. The Shiv Sena (UBT) has made no public statements regarding the film as of yet.

In summary, "Honeymoon in Shillong" is a highly anticipated Bollywood movie that promises to explore the tragic events surrounding the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi. With a script that is nearly completed and the family's consent, the production is set to begin soon. Stay tuned for updates on the star cast and the movie's progress.
