Film Split, featuring its director and primary actor announced.

Hey there! Looks like we've got some exciting cinema news coming your way! A while back, we learned that the co-op adventure game, Split Fiction, was getting a film adaptation. Now, we have some updates: the director will be none other than Jon M. Chu (known for movies like Wicked) and Sydney Sweeney (Madame Web) will star as the lead.

According to sources at Variety, the film will be working from a screenplay penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who've written some famous titles like Deadpool and Wolverine. It's unclear if Sweeney will be playing Mio or Zoe, the two protagonists from the game. As of now, she's the only star confirmed for the project.

Split Fiction, released in March this year, revolves around Mio, a sci-fi enthusiast, and Zoe, a fantasy lover, who are invited by a book publisher to test a device that brings their stories to life. Instead, they find themselves trapped in a simulated world merged from their narratives. The game has been a critical and commercial hit, and its popularity is likely to grow throughout the year, making it an attractive choice for adaptation.

With busy schedules being what they are, Sweeney has other projects lined up, such as another season of Euphoria and a role in the upcoming Gundam movie. Chu, on the other hand, has Wicked: For Good slated for later this year and will direct Oh, the Places You'll Go! in 2028. So, it might take some time before we see Split Fiction hitting the silver screen.
