Film director Vivek Agnihotri discloses the reason behind renaming his movie from The Delhi Files to The Bengal Files, citing 'extensive pressure and opposition'.
In the world of Indian cinema, a new film titled "The Bengal Files" has sparked controversy, with its release date set for September 5. The film, produced by Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi, and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, is the final chapter in Agnihotri's Files trilogy.
The film, which explores communal violence that occurred in undivided Bengal during the 1940s, has been met with opposition from the West Bengal government. The authorities claim that the film intends to show the state in a negative light, leading to a call for a boycott of the film.
The trailer launch event for "The Bengal Files" in Kolkata was abruptly stopped, adding fuel to the fire. However, director Vivek Agnihotri has explained that the title change was made to avoid miscommunication. The initial title of the film was "The Delhi Files: Bengal Chapter," but it was changed to "The Bengal Files" in June.
Despite the controversy, Agnihotri remains undeterred. He has stated that the film is a fact-based account of a dark chapter in history and aims to promote peace and unity. The film's release is scheduled for September 5, and it remains to be seen how the controversy will affect its box office performance.
