With a production budget of $225 million, Superman has already proven to be a box office hit, earning a total of $565.5 million worldwide. The film has garnered a 91% "fresh" score from Rotten Tomatoes audiences, based on over 25,000 verified user ratings, and an 83% "fresh" rating from critics, based on 472 reviews.
The official summary for the film reads: "When Superman is drawn into conflicts both abroad and at home, his actions to protect humankind are questioned, and his vulnerability allows tech billionaire and master deceiver Lex Luthor to leverage the opportunity to get Superman out of the way for good."
One of the most exciting aspects of this new Superman film is the live-action big screen debut of Krypto the Superdog. Fans of the franchise will not be disappointed with the star-studded cast, which includes David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult, along with Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Mikaela Hoover, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Neva Howell, and the voice of Alan Tudyk.
The film's digital release is subject to change, as Warner Bros. has not officially announced or confirmed it. However, if the release goes ahead as planned, renting Superman for 48 hours is expected to cost $24.99, while a digital purchase will set you back $29.99.
Superman is rated PG-13 and is still playing in theaters. The Rotten Tomatoes Critics Consensus for the film is: "Pulling off the heroic feat of fleshing out a dynamic new world while putting its champion's big, beating heart front and center, this Superman flies high as a Man of Tomorrow grounded in the here and now."
