Filip Forsberg to make Olympic debut in 2026 with Sweden’s medal-hungry team

Filip Forsberg will make his Olympic debut at the 2026 Winter Games in Milano Cortina. The Swedish forward, known for his epic scoring ability, has been selected for the national team for the first time. His inclusion comes as Sweden aims for a medal in the upcoming tournament.

Forsberg has long been a standout player for the Nashville Predators. Two seasons ago, he set career highs with 48 goals and 94 points. This season, he has 16 goals and 31 points in 43 games, ranking second on the team.

His recent performances have drawn praise from Predators head coach Andrew Brunette. Brunette noted that Forsberg has 'taken us on his back' to keep the team in playoff contention. Such form made his Olympic selection almost certain. The 2026 Games will mark Forsberg’s first Olympics, despite his past international success. He previously won gold at the 2012 World Junior Championship and the 2018 World Championship. Now, he joins fellow Predators Juuse Saros, Erik Haula, and Roman Josi—each representing their own countries—in the tournament. Forsberg has spoken openly about his excitement. Wearing Sweden’s blue and yellow jersey and competing for gold is a long-held ambition. The chance to do so in Milano Cortina adds extra motivation.

Forsberg’s Olympic debut will add experience to Sweden’s roster. His scoring record and recent club form position him as a key player in their medal push. The tournament begins in February 2026, with Sweden targeting a spot in the final rounds.
