Fighter Donaire opposes Nunez Campos in battle
The much-awaited return of Nonito "Filipino Flash" Donaire to the boxing ring is set to happen against Andres Campos on June 14, 2025, not June 15, 2025, at the Casino Buenos Aires, Argentina. BoxingScene writer Eric Raskin has shared this exciting news.
Donaire, now 42, is no stranger to great boxing talent, according to Raskin, even at his age. After turning 39, Donaire still managed a 4th round knockout win against fellow Filipino Reymart Gaballo to defend his World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight title on December 11, 2021.
Following his two subsequent fights, Donaire suffered defeat in a 2nd round knockout during his rematch with Japanese boxer Naoya "Momster" Inoue and a unanimous decision loss against Alexandro Santiago. However, Donaire is ready to get back in the ring after a 27-month layoff since then.
Raskin sees Donaire's skillset and believes the 28-year-old Campos might have a tough time against him. Donaire has a record of 42-8, 28 KOs, while Campos boasts a record of 17-2-1, 6KOs.
According to Raskin, there's no clear reason why Donaire would shy away from this fight.
"Campos is particularly vulnerable to the left hook, which just happens to be Donaire's best punch," Raskin stated.
If Donaire decides to take on this fight, Raskin predicts it could become a more challenging bout. However, if Donaire opts out, Raskin suggests it could be a missed opportunity, as this might be a promising sign for a rematch.
