Currently, there are no solid plans for expansion, but the Europe-dominated roster shows promise. Twelve European clubs have qualified for the tournament, including powerhouses like Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. Although the Commission has not yet adopted a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation, football fans might need such protection if the Club World Cup expands, given the intense schedule that an expanded tournament might entail. With European leagues like the Premier League and elite clubs such as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund participating in the Club World Cup, it seems that the pursuit of sports glory and financial incentives trumps nuclear safety concerns, at least for now.
